Shadow is the universal language of communication. Visualizing various subjects - taken from life or existing in books and films - the actors of VERBA manage to transfer the viewer to a new reality, to give the opportunity to be surprised, to rejoice, to empathize, and to reflect reminisce on a carefree childhood. 

The show is accompanied by visuals from popular films and fantasies. Alice in Wonderland, Titanic, & Cinderella – Many stories and fairy tales, which are created by shadows and lights taking the audience on a breathtaking journey.

Bewarned of Overcharging on Your Credit Cards for Ticket Payment to Jaber Al Ahmed Cultural Centre JACC

So here is the overcharge made to my husband's credit card for CATS back in February. I promptly contacted them and then proceeded to have the longest and lousiest customer service ever. 

The correct payment was for the 11/02/2017 and then another charge was made on the 12/02/2107. Now why it was for KD 30 when there were no tickets for KD 30 should have been a dead giveaway that it was an overcharge but no. After many emails, telephone calls and Whatsapps all I got was.... nothing but a headache. The manager concluded it was nothing to do with JACC that it was the bank's problem. No, it wasn't - it was JACC's but I got really fed up dealing with them. Until the last week when I noticed on their Instagram that other people were having the same problem. So I have emailed them again re-stating my annoyance and disappointment.

Let's see what they have to say for themselves.

Kuwait Will Have The Largest Museum In The World - Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Centre, Shaab

Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Centre

The Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Centre will create a new world class museum district within Kuwait. Together with the Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Cultural Centre, it will form Kuwait’s new national cultural project.
 
The cultural district is a celebration of the scientific and cultural achievements of mankind. The scale, shapes and shades of the buildings are designed to convey a sense of wonder and awe.

Each building will contain an array of permanent and temporary world class exhibits and artworks. Walking through the cultural district beneath the canopied 'streets' will be a journey full of surprises, with stunning views deep into the heart of the museums where visitors will see framed vistas of priceless exhibits.

Kuwaiti architecture is represented by the main ‘street’ which is not a straight line and echoes the traditional ‘ferej’ or neighbourhood. This creates exciting spaces, Islamic patterns, corners and walkways, mirroring the experience of walking down a traditional, busy Kuwaiti street.
 
The museums will celebrate Kuwaiti, Islamic and Arab culture and history. They will also embrace and showcase the rich diversity of the world’s finest cultural achievements.

The museum district will consist of six main buildings:

- Natural History Museum - (7700m2) will offer visitors a unique insight into the natural world and will include a stunning ecosystem experience that allows visitors to explore a living rain forest, mangrove and coral reef.

- Science Museum - (6800m2) will include galleries for Human Body & Mind, Experiment, Robotics and Technology & Transport, with exhibits featuring hands-on experiments, games and simulator experiences.

- Museum of Islamic History - (1900m2) includes exhibits on the development of Islamic art, architecture and science and will celebrate the culture and crafts of the Muslim world though artefacts, reconstructions, interactives and audio- visual presentations.

- Space Museum - (4300m2) with a 130 seat planetarium will tell the story of the earth and the universe, space exploration and include an immersive reconstruction of the international space station.

- Fine Arts Centre

- Theatre

LWDLIK - Sounds and looks truly amazing. The idea of tourism to Kuwait is looking a whole lot more real with these massive cultural projects/gems finished. JACC, its beautiful dancing fountains and outdoor restaurants is already open and flourishing.

Hankut Invites You To A Unique Korean Experience at Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center

Joint cultural performances at Jaber Al Ahmad Culture Center Concert Hall, known for it's superb facilities, is open to all citizens. The members of the performance team includes Korean Orchestra and B-boys, Naval band, Honorary Guards, Navy Entertainment Group (Korean traditional quartet, magic show, singing performance, and MC), taekwondo performance team, and midshipmen choir.

Chelsey Green and The Green Project formed in October of 2009. Shortly thereafter, the ensemble was awarded the opportunity to become Artists-In-Residence at the prestigious Music Center at Strathmore for the 2010-2011 performance season. Upon completing their residency, the group has gone on to perform around the country.

Review: CATS The Musical at Jaber Al Ahmad Cultural Centre, Kuwait

A wonderful performance such a treat for us here in Kuwait. The JACC is a stunning venue.
We had bought four tickets online prior to the day and then I needed to buy a fifth ticket a few hours before the show but had difficulty using the app and selecting a seat. The JACC website was saying there was a problem with my card. We took a chance as there were a few seats showing availability on the app/website and I luckily managed to purchase the fifth ticket at JACC very easily.
A little confusion over door opening times as tickets stated 2pm but we were not permitted into the main theatre until 2.30pm. Even so things went quite smoothly although my friend got directed to the ground level KD 100 seats but couldn't find me and realised she was on the wrong level. She managed to get up to level 2 just in time for curtain up. If they had done that to me I would have stayed down there.
B-level 2 was way up in the Gods and the stage looked very small. We felt that the seats were overpriced and that they should reassess prices if they are to fill the house for every show. And how about a discount outlet for last minute purchases like they do in New York?
The show was fabulous but the sound could have been a bit louder. I'm not sure I would ever pay KD 40 for those seats again and can't see me paying KD60/80/100 for better seats so I really hope they reconsider their prices.
At the interval the queue for the cafe was really, really long and by the time we got our drinks we had to hurry back to our seats. Only to find the doors closed and we had to wait for an appropriate time to enter which I entirely agree with but was a bit miffed that we had missed a part of the show. So I hope JACC can either open another cafe or increase service speed of current one. Also the ladies bathroom queue was pretty crazy too. Not sure if there are alternative loos available nearby but if there are perhaps they are not clearly marked and/or maybe the ushers could inform those waiting on line of their whereabouts.
We decided to have dinner at the Dancing Fountains but could not see it signposted anywhere and when we asked how to get there we were directed by two different security personnel to walk outside along the road for ten minutes to get to the restaurant area. Very inconvenient, we were all wearing heels and the cobbled pavements plus the pebbled areas were torturous. Isn't there a shortcut?
