Empower Your Girl
The purpose of Just Girl is to help girls become literate in all media forms. This empowers girls as consumers of media to control the interpretation of what they see or hear rather than let the persuasion intent of media control them. Setting the curriculum apart is its use of art as a means to educate, inspire, reflect, transform, and encourage social change. The curriculum and methodology are the results of an extended collaboration involving adolescent girl advisors, leading scholars, educators, media activists, health experts, and artists. Co-creators Kelly Parks Snider & Jane Bartell (Project Girl), Lyn Mikel Brown, Ed.D (Hardy Girls Healthy Women).
