HALA February Festival 2010

After picking up the newspaper this morning and seeing the pics of the parade at Souq Sharq, that we missed, it becomes clear why I actually started this blog.
Not sure why these parades get very little publicity and it's really your luck if you happen to be out and come across one.
So I'm making it my mission this week to find out what the Hala February schedule will be and where. The festival goes on throughout February.

LAYALI FEBRAYIR schedule 2010, location Ice Skating Rink.
There will be religious seminars and poetry recitals also on different days and looks like they will be in Arabic. Tel. 1822255 for info.
Here's the fun stuff for Arabs or Arabic speakers. These artists are mega-stars in the Gulf area and considering that concerts are normally not permitted in Kuwait this is a great opportunity to see them.

HELP 4 HAITI

Family day @ The Camp
29/1/ 2010

Great day had by all. Big thank you to the organisers.
Apparently 700 tkts sold and proceeds are going to ICRC (International Committee Red Cross) to help Haiti.
Thanks to Hassan Awaidha for offering the camp, to the generous, numerous sponsors and to the general public who paid for their tickets. All together they helped to raise a whopping $33,333 for the humanitarian programs in Haiti.

Whilst I was out and about today I saw a new dentist clinic with a difference..
It's called ...NEW SMILE DENTAL SPA.
It's just along the road from the new Al Seef Hospital. I have no idea how good they are but I loved the name.

Yes men why is that ringing a bell? Hellllooo Valentine's Day!

The Radisson (formerly known as the SAS and in my opinion will always be the SAS) also has a great competition to enter and win a trip for 2 to Rome.
Dine at the Al Bustan, Al Boom, Peacock or Rangoli restaurants and spend
KD 20 or more. This could turn into a return flight for two to Rome courtesy of Qatar Airways. What’s more, a two nights complimentary stay at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Rome, awaits the winners.

How about that for a Valentine's gift guys!!!
ATTENTION FELLOW SHOPPERS...rush to www.net-a-porter.com
Designer clothes, designer shoes, designer bags and designer accessories from top designer brands: Christian Louboutin, Matthew Williamson, Alexander McQueen, Marc Jacobs and more...

They have a COMPETITION where you could be chosen as winner of a $40,000 shopping spree. NO purchase necessary just need your email address and it is open to residents of Kuwait.

I've already entered... closing date 11th February 2010.

GOOD LUCK!

So far I have "virtually" spent only $30,000.

Search is on For New Best Brunch Place..

Our old favourite Fauchon has stopped their breakfast/brunch promotion :O( It was mushroom omelette with asparagus, smoked salmon, selection of cheeses, breads, croissants, fresh juice and coffee for less than KD3....Amazing! And such a lovely place.
The branch in Laila Gallery, Salmiya was perfect for us girls; good location and no ogglers. We could squeal and laugh without causing too much attention. Offer ended so the hunt is on to find a new BB place...

Anyway Fauchon is Paris on your lips... (Goes straight to your hips :O)

Ps. Fauchon or any other restaurants having a brunch special please let me know..

Ahmadi Lights 2010

Update: These did not fair well when I changed the look of the blog and now I cannot move or enlarge them.

AHMADI ROCKS!

If you haven't been down to Ahmadi to see the lights you really should go. KOC is celebrating 75 years and the place looks like a winter wonderland.
Head straight down the 40 expressway towards Ahmadi til you see the turn off to the right for Ahmadi take the right and keep going straight til pass the Governer building til you see all the lights around the park area. There's a great walking area all the way around the park so you get to see all most all of the lights. It's safe and fun. You need to go after sunset of course. Have posted some pics if you are still not convinced.
