Recently got an email from Hazel who is a teacher at KES and makes storysacks. What are they? Storysacks are large cloth bags containing a good quality storybook and supporting material. They are a valuable learning tool for primary age students and the children just love them!
Locally found books, toys, games and a variety of supporting material to create fun, fully interactive multi-sensory educational sacks. She frequently use her sacks to make lessons more interesting.
Storysacks are available in school catalogues in the UK for around 100 pounds, plus shipping.
Her story bags are just KD20 each.
They contain enough activities for two weeks and usually consist of:
> One fabric draw-string bag
> One fiction book
> One non-fiction book
> One large set of toys (soft)
> One small set of toys (plastic)
> One fabric/card play mat or background
> One wooden jigsaw/puzzle
> Flash cards
> Folders with activities relating to the 6 areas of learning
> CD with powerpoint/interactive whiteboard activities and worksheet masters
> Stickers, stencils/cutters/stamps/etc – supportive material
> Costumes are extra at KD5 each
