Every day in the newspapers there are reports of domestic workers committing suicide, getting raped, beaten, murdered, not paid and forced into prostitution. Is there no humanity, legal recourse and compassion? How can anyone condone such atrocious behaviour and allow it to go on and on?
The situation has gotten much worse. Maids are terrified to report such crimes at police stations because they don't trust the police. I've heard of two maids being sent back to their country of origin, mighty quick, because allegedly they were pregnant 'bad' girls. But the other side of the story is that the employer's sons or husbands were sexually harassing and raping the maids.
No more lies please.
The crimes, deceit and absolute disdain for human life is sickening and must change. Laws must be enforced and the victims' aggressors brought to justice and made to pay for their crimes.
We can no longer stand by and let defenseless women and fellow human beings suffer at the hands of these callous monsters.

Did you know that one of the relatives of the suspect even came to visit her and tried to give her 100KD plus a deal to fix her papers and give her a job, all of that just to make her shut up and drop the case. She didn't accept it of course.
ReplyDeleteThis is gonna sound mean but why don't she try getting raped first and then stabbed and let's see if she'll accept the 100KD offer she was giving. I really hope that Marissa recovers soon and that she receives the kind of justice she deserves.. The physical wounds and pains will eventually heal but the emotional and psychological trauma will always be there. I hope that b*stard goes straight to hell. :/
Disgraceful! Those people are worse than animals void of any compassion or religion.
DeleteI am sharing this to all the people i know!
ReplyDeleteThank you. Together we can show that people really do care and bring attention to this general lethargy in dealing with these horrendous crimes on the less fortunate. My heart breaks for these ladies and I'm so fed up with being unable to do anything.
DeleteP.S.-- Thanks for this post.. Signed the petition and shared it on Facebook and Twitter..
ReplyDeleteThanks Honey. This is not how I want my world or that of my child to be. I'm so angry and saddened by the light sentences, pay offs and general bad treatment of migrant workers here.
DeleteLWDLIK, this is terrible, I´ve signed it and shared in FB. Hope we reach something!
ReplyDeleteIt is so very sad that it has happened and even sadder that these ladies feel that there is no chance of justice here. :O( Thanks for sharing x
