The Queen is visiting Ireland

Queen Elizabeth II in 2007

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is to pay her first State Visit to the Republic of Ireland. The State Visit will take place from Tuesday 17 May to Friday 20 May 2011.

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will visit Ireland at the invitation of President Mary McAleese.

While in Ireland, Her Majesty the Queen will attend a ceremony at the Garden of Remembrance, and will also visit government and opposition officials and later attend an official State Banquet at Dublin Castle.

The State Visit also includes events at Trinity College Dublin, at the National War Memorial Gardens in Islandbridge, at the Guinness Storehouse and at Croke Park.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh will also visit the Irish National Stud in Kildare as well as Cashel in County Tipperary, and Cork.

It will be the first visit by a British Monarch to the Republic of Ireland since the visit by King George V in 1911.

LWDLIK- Crikey! The Irish army have just discovered a bomb, and destroyed it, just outside Dublin but visit will go ahead.. [link] Major security operation costing millions for her visit. I'm hoping this goes well.

Update- She looked so lovely in her green outfit, did you notice the Launer bag? :O)
Great job Ireland - so far, so good. Not easy I'm sure on some of them but there's only one way to go and that's forward. Can only be better for all.
