"For us to see clearer, we have to listen better."
We have to pay more attention to precise details of our lives and memories so we would be able to discover the true heroes who influenced us and formulated the lines on our faces and dug signs into our palms.
Perhaps we need days or even weeks to again be able to hear those voices and touch shadows from the past avoiding the rumbles of daily lost conversations.
If we are to paint our memories, what would be the color to choose?
Would it be white like a cloud with a rays of light from a distance, would it be gray like a dusty bottle that holds years of loneliness and worries?
Would our memories be painted in the color of martyrs' and revolutionists' blood?
Or green like the happiness of innocent child or a women in a motherly dresses or maybe blue or yellow?
Certainly, memories have color and occupy a space in an artist's creations.
Reza Salem and Amira Behbehani from Kuwait, Sina Atta from Iraq, Jinan Basho from Lebanon, Liz Allam from Egypt, Moataz from Sudan and Mary Thomas from United States. Inspired works from the memories transformed in their state of consciousness and unconsciousness into visuals and scripts expressing their individual and accumulative state of mind. It's all about their existence as human, experiencing the self-segregation and sometimes falling into the heart of the event. As if they are seeking the knowledge in understanding the contradiction between humanity and its present and past.
Through their work, each artist's is using his own way and technique to raise the question about the uncertainty and expected tragedy of the future.
At the end of our show for this season and after hosting a wide number of exhibitions, FA Gallery show a remarkable existence in the local art seen. Closing our first season with this exhibition proves our belief in hosting various art direction and schools. Hoping to meet in our next season with more variety and higher expectations for the art community in Kuwait.
