Coolestgizmo.com

What an interesting site for big boy toys. And found something for my princess to keep track of her when we travel this year. Yes, I have nightmares about losing her. On our previous trip to Eurodisney I had a Teddy Bear child locator alarm on her. Which worked beautifully. But its range is limited. Ok for a small child as you keep them close anyway. But for a bigger child you need more range.

Child Locator

Lots of websites have them.

This year I'm thinking to get this portable GPS locator for Orlando Disney.

Works with Google Earth etc, easy to use as the USB itself contains the software so plug in to your laptop, download the software and then the USB  is worn by child to pinpoint it and your child. Of course you'll have to remember to stick it in their pocket or loop it over their belt everday. I'm still looking for one to use with my iPhone. But til then this is a good option.

Thanks to shitwecomeupwit blog for lots and lots of laughs and this info.

Here's another that SWCUW has sent me..
A Garmin rep told us that this tiny GPS module was initially invented for pet owners to track their furry friends. But we think its small size (think, Bic lighter), long battery life (up to four weeks) and waterproof construction make it suitable for much more. Stuff it in the pocket of a potentially wayward child, pop it in the glovebox as a low-cost LoJack, or hide it in a suitcase full of cash. Garmin even envisions elite marathon runners carrying one of these, allowing fans to track them as they plow through a course. A Web interface makes it easy to home in on the device’s location. Price: $200. (image and post taken from http://www.popularmechanics.com/ via http://www.shitwecomeupwit.com/ )

Many thanks SWCUW :O)

  1. I'm glad you liked my blog :) I was just reading over the post that you wrote, and noticed that you needed some type of GPS child finder. Around two weeks ago, on "gadget of the day", I posted a similair type of device to what you're looking for..tell me what you think, here it is: http://www.shitwecomeupwit.com/2011/05/gadget-of-the-day-garmin-gtu-10-gps-tracker/

  5. Hi Nerissa, yes I like the ID bracelets too. In fact one holiday she lost her ID bracelet and so I used to write our mobile number with country code on her arm. She knew it was there and that she should show people if she got lost. Poor kid was covered in biro she was only 2-3yrs old ;O)

    2. Sorry for the delay got busy with stuff and forgot. The locator we got from Kuwait is excellent it came with 4 pieces that can be used to place on kids, bags, anything and a hand held gadget to track the piece if it gets lost. It has a longer range (compared to the teddy bear we previously had) and worked beautifully. Contact Faisal tel 66600085/9963288.
