Essential and Proper Stimulation for Healthy Brain Development in Children

TEDxRainier - Dimitri Christakis - Media and Children

LWDLIK - Quite fascinating! Not completely surprising though. I met an old friend in the supermarket about 5 years ago and he was intrigued at how well my daughter spoke (I had thought pretty average), he told me that his child at 4 years old was still unable to talk and so he and his European wife had taken the child to the doctor. The doctor said the child needed to be tested for autism. When they took the child to be tested the doctor performing the tests asked if both parents were working, yes they were. The doctor then asked approximately what amount of time each day was spent talking, playing, interacting and reading to the child; very little. That was the problem, not autism. You can't really expect your maid to have time, interest or capabilities to engage your child and teach them all they need to know.
