Sulphur Gas Leak in Kuwait

Seems there has been a leak from one of the refineries, hence the horrible stench in the air. The advice is to stay in doors and keep windows closed.  Have been watching the news for more info and so far nada, zero, zilch.

    1. Don't know. Probably. I think it's sulphur dioxide.

  2. There was some info on KTV (in arabic) and they basically said the following : the levels may cause discomfort and irritation, especially for those with asthma, but they are not fatally toxic ; rinse irritated eyes/nostrils with water; stay indoors.... Do I guess, stay put unless u feel unwell

    1. Thanks good advice. The smell seems to have gone in Bneid Al Gar. Maybe the wind's changed or maybe situation has changed. Hoping the latter.

  3. smells like hydrogen sulphide. Can be toxic at certain concentrations. Look up side effects. Good luck.

    1. I think this was released prior to Chairman's statement on KTV 1. I guess we'll just have to see how things are in the morning.

  6. It's not Sulphur dioxide, it is a Hydrogen Sulphide (also known as The Killer Gas or The invisible killer) leak from KOC oil well in Rawdatain Oil field (near Iraq border).

  7. It is a H2S gas. Hydrogen Sulfide. A heavier than air deadly gas for sure at high concentration.

    1. Maybe. Only time will tell. But I'd like to think some people out there have a shred of decency and would not lie to us and subject us all to horrendous side effects.
Maybe you were not here when the crap was pouring out of the burning oil wells after the invasion of Kuwait.
It will be what it will be.
There is no use me worrying about stuff that I have no power to change. Today the air seems clean. Would I like to live on a mountain in Switzerland..Hell yes.
