Review: Staged In Kuwait's Panto Puss In Boots

Photo credit to Dhari Al Fouzan

If you, unlike me, didn't hover over your laptop waiting for the tickets for the SIK panto for the most entertaining show ever then you really missed out on a fabulous, fun time. Not sure I have enough adjectives to convey the love and joy these people bring to us during the Christmas season but Kuwait would never be the same without you.

Where to start? The whole cast, costumes, stage settings were fantastic. The comedic one liners and slapstick comedy had my sides splitting with laughter. The singing and dancing was just lovely and joyful. Your enthusiasm and dedication is felt and much appreciated. The kids loved the Santa photo op at the interval. And we all thoroughly enjoyed the audience interaction and participation.

The seriously awesome cast..

Tremendous, stupendous, prodigious, phenomenal, extraordinary, remarkable,
exceptional, astounding, amazing, astonishing, breathtaking and overwhelming.

Long live the SIK Panto! Feliz Navidad, people.

11/10 you exceed my expectations every show.

And as we all have the funny little song in our heads how about the words to go with it.

Review: Beauty And The Beast The Musical

Wow! I am a huge fan of Staged In Kuwait Productions but this one was phenomenal, truly fantastic! Everything from the stage decoration, costumes, wigs, make up, amusing magical tea cup boy, the acting and the truly incredible singing made a fabulous show. I would say their best ever and I've seen some excellent SIK musicals but this was really first class. I have nothing but praise for this band of merry volunteers who give up their time and almost literally break legs every performance with their energetic, all out performance.

Tim, you are a supreme being who's creativity and artistic vision knows no bounds I can not believe how lucky we are to have you and all these wonderful, talented, extraordinary people in Kuwait. You made our week. Thank you.

I really hope Staged In Kuwait find much needed sponsorship/funding and a new location because to lose this calibre of theatre would be truly heartbreaking.

Oh, and while we are on the subject of how amazing Tim Wadell is, how about an MBE for his 21 years of artistic service to the community in Kuwait. Kuwait would not be the same without him.

If you haven't seen the show then don't worry due to it's huge popularity SIK are putting on one more show on Friday 19th May at 2.30pm and tickets are still available at http://stagedinkuwait.com/book-now/. I promise you that you will love it.

It's an 11/10 from me.

The Last Performance for Staged In Kuwait?

The end of SIK? No please say it isn't so. This wonderful bunch of volunteers who give up their precious weekends and evenings to entertain us and our youngsters desperately need reasonably priced premises to continue their mission to bring great theatre and laughter to us.

I already have my tickets for Beauty and the Beast next week and have been a huge fan of SIK for a very long time to think this might be their last production is heartbreaking.

We need a solution or suggestions on how to keep this company going because Christmas will not be Christmas with the SIK panto every year.

This is a well-run company that could do with a fabulous patron.

So here's a few I'm thinking of:

1. Go Fund Me page
2. Sponsorship (Come on British companies and entities panto and theatre is a great British export)
3. Fabulous patron
4. Join up with LAPA
5. NCCAL
6. Al Shaheed Park for performances
7. Approach JACC

We need to save SIK! Please share to any theatre lovers.

Review: Sinbad the Sailor and the Emerald of Eternity

The wonderful members of Staged In Kuwait Productions served up yet another hilarious, slapstick, side-splitting panto. The English School auditorium is a perfect venue for the audience with tiered seating and a great sound system. The free drinks and outdoor seating during the break were very welcome.

Our favourite sparkly dame (Tim Wadell) took to the colourful stage and led the amazing cast and audience on a theatrical extravaganza. Non-stop entertainment. The costumes, dancing, singing, props and acting were all first class and the audience thoroughly enjoyed themselves. I have to say I absolutely loved Crunchbones (Yousef Alobaid) he didn't have to say anything he was hilarious just doing nothing, a true gift. And the brilliant Andrew Batty was almost unrecognisable as the darstardly Cassim. So many talented actors, actresses and crew giving up their time and making enormous efforts to bring us great theatre. Thank you so very, very much we really are so very lucky to have you all.

Merry Christmas.

Another fun, first class show by Staged in Kuwait. Review: Cinderella Panto Production by Staged in Kuwait

Another fantabulous Christmas panto by the incredibly talented actors of Staged in Kuwait, this year at The English School Auditorium in Salmiya. As always the panto was full of joy, energy, laughter, lovely singing and cheeky double entendres. The costumes and scene sets were wonderful. A delighted audience sang along, booed, hissed and cheered the very entertaining cast. Thank you all for giving up your precious time to volunteer and dedicate yourselves to weeks of rehearsals just to entertain us. We are truly blessed to have you all. Long live panto! Merry Christmas and a well deserved holiday to you all.

Review: Shrek the Musical :O)

In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre — not a handsome prince — shows up to rescue a feisty princess. Throw in a donkey who won’t shut up, a bad guy with a SHORT temper, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there’s one on hand and his name is …..Shrek.

Had a fun afternoon watching Shrek the Musical today. The very talented Staged in Kuwait volunteers were brilliant. I'm always bowled over by their amazing enthusiasm to spend long hours rehearsing and put on the most incredible shows. We are really so very lucky to have them here in Kuwait. A thoroughly enjoyable show full of fun, colourful costumes, great singing, lots of vitality and seriously good acting. Let the freak flag fly. If you didn't buy a ticket yet you may still be in with a miniscule chance if you hurry [link]. Don't miss it!
