Nagada, Beit Sadu
Nagada - rhythmic name of the company, taken from the historical weavers’ village of the same name on the left bank of the River Nile, Egypt where designer Michel Pastore went in 1991 to revive and improve the textile production in the area with a Canadian development project. Designing new motifs based on the traditional headscarf “ferka” woven in the area and teaching the craftsmen how to improve their weaving techniques.
At the end of the project Michel Pastore stayed on to continue his work in association with Sylva Nasrallah, a Lebanese clothes designer based in Cairo. Developing a line of clothing and home furnishings using natural fibres inspired by tradition that is practical and ideal the modern lifestyle.
