How Do You Get Your Kids to School on Time?
A few handy tips :OD
By anonymous...
“I admit it, I’ve sprayed her down with Febreeze.” - My Fav.
“My kids take showers at night sometimes and then sleep in the clothes they want to wear the next day! T-shirt knit is a beautiful thing.” - Ummmm?
“I let the boys pick their clothes—and don't fret whether they match. As long as they are weather appropriate and the boys are content to dress themselves, that’s a success.” - Which is why there are so many Spidermen out there.
“I’ll be honest: bribing!” - My expensive fav.
“Tell them it’s 7 a.m. . . .when it’s really 6. (My dad used to do that to us too).” - Used and abused and no longer effective :O(
“Breakfast in the car, shoes on in the car, and hair combed/brushed in the car!!!” - Yep, this works for me.
“Roll up a pancake with butter and margarine in the middle. Hold it in place with a toothpick. Breakfast to go!” - Breakfast in the car followed by a gum saves a good 15 mins.
“I would buy dinner rolls and two or three kinds of lunch meat and make sandwiches, wrap them individually, and sort into labeled zipper freezer bags so the kids could just grab whatever they wanted and it was thawed by lunch time.” - Done this with pancakes, scones and waffles will be trying the turkey sandwiches soon.
“I am not proud of this, but if they have forgotten to brush their teeth, I will give them gum to chew on the way to school.” - :oO
“My boys have curly hair; the eldest, REALLY curly hair. If we were pressed for time, instead of stopping to try to comb it, we’d just ‘fluff” it and it looked fine. :->” - That answers a lot.
“I use weekly clothing sorters (the kind you hang from the closet rod), even with uniforms. I always hear ‘I can’t find. . .’ With the sorters, separated by day, they always have everything they need to get dressed and out the door...” - Far too organized for me.
“No one has to make their beds or pick up their clothes until AFTER school… I’d rather they eat.”
“When doing laundry, I fold outfits together, and put them in gallon-sized Ziploc bags. My daughters (2 and 6) can quickly pick what they are going to wear, but I know they will be appropriate and match since I put them together.” - This I will be trying.
Good luck mummies, almost back to school time :OD

‘Mysterious’ Crocodile in Salwa, Kuwait
A Kuwaiti resident rushed home from work after his housemaid called to tell him that there was a “huge lizard inside”, only to find that... the reptile was actually a crocodile. The animal had mysteriously made its way inside the house located in Salwa’s Block 11 before it was first spotted by the family’s domestic helper on Tuesday morning. The terrified maid immediately called her employer who was at work and told him that there was a huge lizard in the courtyard of his house. He first suggested that she use a slipper to kill it, but she later called again and said that the lizard was too big and she couldn’t do anything about it. He rushed home after the maid told him she was thinking of leaving the house because she feared for her life.
On heading home, the man found a 1.5 meter-long crocodile waiting for him in the courtyard, so he quickly grabbed a firearm and killed it with a shot to the head. The man was quoted by Al-Rai daily yesterday, explaining that the crocodile looked weak and was moving slowly due to extreme heat and hunger. He added that he felt he was left with no other choice than to kill the animal before it could harm any of his family members who were locked inside their rooms.
LWDLIK - Reminds me of the New York story of crocs in the sewers. Exotic animals are not good pets and can terrify the neighbours.
Via and with thanks to Kuwait upto date.

Stop The Horrendous Animal Slayings in Kuwait
I was horrified to see these grotesque pics of shot and beheaded animals on my FB feed. I can't believe that any civilized society would condone such barbaric acts.
Here's KSPATH's response -
Dear Facebook Fans,
We have been closely following the events taking place in the Khirain area involving the attack of a little girl by a pack of dogs and the subsequent shooting of at least 30 dogs so far.
Firstly, our thoughts and prayers go out to the little girl who was attacked and her family. Secondly, while we understand the anger and frustration in our community, K’S PATH is firmly opposed to the wanton death and suffering caused by the shooting of feral dogs. At no time has shooting ever been shown to be a safe, effective, or humane form of population control. To the individuals doing this shooting: You have vented your anger, and enough is enough. You will not solve this problem through violence.
K’S PATH has been working hard for the last three years to develop humane animal control methodology for Kuwait and we have been extremely successful. Through our contracts with Kuwait Oil Company and Saudi Arabian Chevron, we have shown that humane animal control is safe and effective. Our programs have resulted in more than 97% control of all stray dogs in our areas of responsibility. We undertook these programs to prove that humane animal control could be done in Kuwait and that it is affordable. Meanwhile, we have worked closely with the Public Authority for Agriculture and Fish Resources for over a year to develop a contract for more practical and ethical dog control in Kuwait. The tender for this contract is due to be awarded to an as yet unknown company in the next couple of months.
In short, K’S PATH has been hard at work on this issue for several years. While we have not yet been able to solve the problem, we are making tremendous progress. We ask that people remain calm and direct your energy toward petitioning the government to move this program forward as quickly as possible and to supporting K’S PATH. When the funding becomes available, we will expand our dog control programs into more areas thereby making our communities safer.

Iraq Invades Kuwait 1990
A very sad memory that can bring me to tears each time I remember it. Much respect and RIP to all those who sacrificed their lives for Kuwait.
