Jazz Music Tonight





















Cellist Jiří Bárta is an instructor at “l’Académie francotcheque de musique de Telc” and the founder of the Kutna Hora Chamber Music Festival. His concert activities in past seasons have taken him to much of Europe, North & South America, Australia, Japan and Korea. He has performed under the batons of many of the world’s leading conductors including Maxim Shostakovich, who conducted Barta’s recording of Shostakovich cello concertos. Other recordings include the world premiere recording of Ignaaz Moscheles “Cello Sonata” and the sonatas of Arthur Rubinstein with pianist Hamish Milne. Milan Svoboda is one of the leading personalities on the Czech musical scene. He gained international renown as a jazz pianist and band leader and currently conducts the creative Milan Svoboda Jazz Orchestra – Prague Big Band and his own Milan Svoboda Quartet, which frequently includes guest performer Jiří Bárta. For the past several years Svoboda has been Professor of Composition and Jazz Harmony at the Jaroslav Jezek Conservatory in Prague. He leads also successful Prague Conservatory Jazz Orchestra. His composing and conducting styles include modern jazz, musicals, film, theater and contemporary classical music.
