Had the time of our lives. Completely knackered after flying from Orlando to Kuwait via JFK. Although we (my little 8 yr old pumpkin and my big pumpkin an 8 going on 96 yr old husband) all managed to sleep 9 hours on flight, a first for me. Very happy to see driver and the maid. And MIL, who we popped in to see on way home.
What a trip. If you get to Florida you MUST go to Discovery Cove (yes there is a .com by the same name) it's a fabulous day for all. Thank you for the great tip darling niece of mine and for insisting we must go. We also loved Shamu at Seaworld, very exciting stuff. That roller coaster is CRAZY!
West and east Caribbean islands were fab. Daughter got a head of braids on first island (Labadee in Haiti), had to make sure I put SPF everyday on her head. The helicopter trip around Grand Cayman was spectacular, we got to see the incredible reefs, sharks, a rare manta ray and a Kuwaiti billionaire's fabulous beachfront home but Gerome the French pilot couldn't tell us who it was. Mystic Mountain in Jamaica was a blast, it was where the Jamaican bobsled team practised (remember the movie 'Cool Runnings') a fantastic chairlift ride up the forested hill, gorgeous views of Ochios Rios and a bob sled ride down. We chairlifted down as thought a bobsled ride after a big lunch might not be advisable. A submarine ride in Cozumel. A tour of the island at St Thomas, where we planned to go power snorkelling but the driver, Mary, had other ideas. Had a cocktail at Maho Beach in St Maartin and watched the aircraft land. Unbelievably the runway is right next to the beach and is an incredible experience. See youtube video below..
We had just missed an Air Caribe jet landing and didn't want to wait an hour for the Jetblue flight (yes at the establishment on the beach is the airline arrivals schedule so you can be ready for the incoming) we saw a few small light aircraft but that jumbo would have been an awesome but terrifying experience.
A fabulous holiday... now back to reality ;O)
