Busy Day: Royal Garden Party, Need Suitable Dress, Need To Practise My Curtesy And Dash Off To A Halloween Party
Curtsey Dos and Dont's (I had to google at this one and it wasn't much help).
Curtsey politely.
Stand, with your lead foot in front, legs slightly overlapped. Have hands clasped behind the back, in front of the skirt or one folded across the waist. bend at the knees, back straight (you may need to adjust your legs for this) for added politeness, incline or bow the head.
Curtsey impolitely.
This is as above, but lift the skirt, or leave your arms at your sides. Either way indicates you believe the person to whom you are curtseying is 'cheap', or someone of little honor or sexually immoral. Wear pants and NEVER show them.
Hmmmm...
Have asked Acanthe School of Etiquette & Protocol for some tips.
The Halloween party was far more fun than the royal garden party.

Concert: Diary Of Hope III Featuring Rahmani, The Kuwaiti Tenor (Abdulrahman Al-Mahmeed)
It was a superb musical evening last night in aid of The Hope Foundation at the Al Hashemi, Radisson Blu. Under the patronage of the British ambassador to Kuwait, HE Frank Baker.
The very talented young muscians from both Kuwait English School and British School of Kuwait enthusiastically played and sang to an appreciative audience. The concert opened with, the much talked about, Kuwaiti opera singer Rahmani (Abdulrahman Al-Mahmeed) singing O Sole Mio, which was just lovely.
A very reasonable KD 5 ticket price with drinks and canapes served at the interval.
Wonderful piano solos, saxophone and string ensembles, an enchanting santur, big band tunes and some superb harmonies. From Chopin to the Simpsons, it was truly a superb evening. A big finale with Rahmani singing my absolute favourites, Nessun Dorma and Conte Partiro; which had me teary eyed.
With thanks to Mrs Rhoda Muhmood, her staff and all those who made the evening so very special.

Dishdasha Express Reviewed By Kuwaitiful.com
Dishdasha Express passed by yesterday after I set a meeting to get measurements and pick the material I want. They had everything designed from catalogues to receipts. I did feel super lazy when they started taking measurements and realizing I haven’t left the house.
Each catalogue has details on the side about the material. It’s a lot more convenient checking the price than asking every time you like something. Can’t remember what type I ended up picking, just liked the colour.
I will be getting my dishdashas within the next day or two. The service was professional and prices were reasonable. I recommend it for both lazy people and those who don’t have time to go custom-make their own dishdasha. I guess the next step is going for Abaya Express.

LWDLIK- Saw this on Kuwaitiful's blog and thought it was a great idea! Hope Kuwaitiful's dishdashas turn out well.

As you can see from my girlfriend's fabulous decorations for her child's upcoming party; it's going to be great fun this year. Thanx for the pic M. It's going to be a fantastic party. Can't wait to get my pirate's outfit on and go cause some havoc :OD

As'ad Al-Hamad Dermatology Clinic
Had an appointment at the As'ad Al-Hamad Dermatology Clinic today. A little nail fungus problem. So I gave my appointment request, from my polyclinic, to the receptionist - she shakes her head, tuts in disapproval and looks at her watch (like I'm late). But it was 10.45am! And the polyclinic had told me to come anywhere from 7.30am-12 noon for this appointment.
Miserable receptionist then takes my civil ID and does the open palmed circular motion gesture for 'shino hadi' or 'shay, shay' to her colleague who sniggers. Loosely translates to 'who the hell does she think she is'. Initially, I thought how rude but then it developed into sympathy. Women who walk around looking so blinking miserable and behaving so childishly get all my pity.
However, the wonderful attention and care that I received from Dr M (a beautiful Kuwaiti female) - whom I'd never met before - was absolutely fabulous she went out of her way to take me around and follow up a previous diagnosis. She quickly sorted out an immediate biopsy, blood tests and follow-ups.
Thank you Dr M you are a very, very fine example of your profession. You have left a very big impression on me. Many thanks to her colleagues too.
As'ad Al-Hamad Dermatology Clinic have an interesting website and online booking service which I think I'll try out for next time.
Had to laugh to myself at the total contrast.
Have just checked my number given by the receptionist to recheck exact time it says 12:16pm (?) However that is inaccurate as I checked the time on my watch at reception and received calls at 11am whilst in with Dr. Hmmm...
