Airports I Wouldn't Mind Getting Stuck In

COURTESY CHANGI AIRPORT GROUP (CAG)
The Butterfly Garden at Singapore's Changi Airport contains nearly 1,000 butterflies.
The Butterfly Garden, Singapore Changi Airport

If you’ve had enough of recycled air and persnickety flight attendants, head to this serene, two-story oasis located in Terminal 3, containing a grotto waterfall, timber walkway, tropical plants, and nearly 1,000 butterflies. Also offers free WiFi, internet cafes, prayer rooms, and good eats, add these upgrades available at Changi Club: snooze chairs and napping areas in transit, city tours, a swimming pool and Jacuzzi, 24 hour massage and spa facilities, video games, music lounges, live bands, gardens, pay-in lounges for us poor economy passengers and free movies -- all at the airport.

Aji Ichiban, Hong Kong International Airport
Nonpareils and Skittles share shelf space with more eclectic treats, like chili olives and shredded shrimp at this innovative, internationally flavored confectionary—perfect for a last-minute souvenir or self-indulgent treat. Four 24 hour pay-in lounges (airside and landside), 24-hour food and drink (airside and landside), a nearby 9 hole golf course, an interactive movie studio and the largest 4D Movie Theatre in Asia. If you are in transit and really need to rest, look for the lounge chairs hidden behind shrubbery.

Rijksmuseum; Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam
“Behind passport control” may sound like an unpromising address for an art museum. But the airport outpost of the Rijksmuseum (the main building is on Amsterdam’s Museum Square) contains a top-notch permanent collection by artists including Jan Steen and Jacob van Ruisdael, among other Dutch masters. This year the airport introduced free WiFi for 1 hour. A unique feature at this airport would be that you can hold your wedding here. They promote "Get Married at Schiphol Airport"....so all of you young brides who have dreamed of that airport wedding ....Schiphol is the airport for you. :-)

Fit & Fly Spa, Munich International Airport
Honey-cream hand baths and vitamin C facials await at this facility, complete with a whirlpool, sauna, and steam bath in the Kempinski Hotel. Mini golf and volleyball courts for those inclined.

Rental Bikes; Zurich Airport
The stir-crazy can rent a bike or in-line skates and explore a 12-mile trail circumnavigating this busy airport, obtaining front-row seats to the nearly 700 daily take-offs and landings.

LWDLIK - 3-4 hours max should do it. Of course some of these perks are available to first and business class passengers at Heathrow.
