The beautiful British Embassy building always a pleasure to be invited to this wonderful historic building and garden. A thank you to our gracious hosts H.E. Ambassador Mathew Lodge and his lovely wife, Alexia, for the splendid Autumn Reception last night.
At least 3 people were asking me about the building and it's history and so I now know more than I did last night. Alexia also told me that the building was the first in Kuwait to be built with imported Scottish steel ceiling girders instead of timber which no doubt has led to it's longevity. The inside is sympathetically kept with simple classic furniture, creaky spiral wooden staircase, slightly warped floors and lots of framed historic moments.
Top tip ladies for when you are invited to the garden; wear wedges or flats, although they don't mind you aerating the lawns for them, staying at 90 degrees is problematic.
