Supporting its social responsibility program on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, National Bank of Kuwait will launch a series of activities and events aimed at encouraging community engagement and solidarity and charity in Kuwait.
By 'Doing Good Deeds' NBK hopes to encourage a greater sense of community and charity during Ramadan and encourages its customers and staff to participate by 'doing good deeds' all month long.
NBK Executive Manager Public Relations & Advertising Manal Al Mattar said that NBK will ramp up its charitable activities, as a good corporate citizen of Kuwait. Its programs this coming month will include providing various institutions with financial and moral support along with conducting regular visits to the underprivileged sections of our society such as elders, orphans and special needs people. "NBK believes in the power of doing good. We like the idea of paying it forward, doing good for someone and seeing it benefit society as a whole." Al Mattar added.
NBK Fast-Breaking Banquets
Al Mattar added that the most important initiative within NBK Ramadan Social Program is hosting fast-breaking banquets which has become a tradition observed annually within the "Do Good Deeds in Ramadan" philanthropic drive initiated by NBK 18 years ago.
The Iftar banquets (which are free of charge) will be held in two main locations; near the Grand Mosque and next to Salmiya Cinema. Fast-breaking will also be offered at various mosques and other locations throughout Kuwait. NBK will also distribute Iftar meals via special convoys that will tour the more crowded areas in the country.
NBK Volunteers
"NBK staff volunteers who will manage and supervise the fast-breaking banquets have already finalized all necessary arrangements for Ramadan tents to receive fasting people on the eve of first day of Ramadan," Al Mattar said.
Social Media Activities
Al Mattar added that NBK Ramadan Social Program will also include daily competitions and valued prizes through the official social media channels of NBK in Facebook & Twitter, in addition to daily Ramadan tips.
Social visits to the houses of orphans & special needs people
The NBK Ramadan Social Program will also include several visits by NBK's Public Relations personnel and NBK staff volunteers to NBK Children's Hospital, the houses of the elderly, orphans and special needs people as well as the family nursery and the distribution of Gerge'an throughout NBK's branch network.
LWDLIK - One of my most favourite things about Ramadan are the free iftars for the poorer members of the society. Here's a thought; why not the whole year? How awesome would that be! If the government and large corporations chipped in. Just like soup kitchens and churches in other parts of the world.
My biggest gripe during Ramadan is the crazy driving around iftar time.
