I've had a few stressful days so this morning took myself off to Yarmouk Clinic to check my BP. Because I'm so special I go to the Specialist Clinic upstairs for, dare I say it, Chronic Diseases, sounds like I should book a funeral already. Although hypertension is called the silent killer mine tends to give me some warnings signs: headaches, light-headedness, heart flutterings. Well, I had a full room of med students listening to my ailments and initially, my case might have hinted at something interesting but the ECG came back boringly normal however the presiding lovely lady doctor cautiously referred me to Amiri Hospital as the BP was high 160/105.
As usual, there was no parking at Amiri, the wait time was long and the seats were hard. I thought about leaving several times but didn't as I was worried it might be more than raised BP. Finally, I got to see the doctor who was a large man with a big beard (not Santa), at first I thought okay here we go expecting the usual condescending medical jargon, zero eye contact and dismissive gesture. Oh boy! Was I wrong. Such a lovely human being, he explained at length about the treatment and tests I was to undertake, reassured me, calmed my anxiety and gained my trust. Fortunately, I'm fine and I would like to thank the lovely Dr Al Hameed at Amiri and Dr Samira at Yarmouk. I'm well impressed with you both. Parking and hard seats not so much.
So pleased to hear you are ok and that you had a good experience all round - barring the wait and hard seats! xx
