LWDLIK - My daughter is off to see this next week and it looks aaaaahhmazing. We saw our first Cirque du Soleil, Quidam, in Dubai many years ago and it was awesome - we were hooked. Then a few in Vegas. I'm so very delighted that Dubai has brought a permanent show to the region. I saw a review on BBC only yesterday about this incredible show that Dubai's Al Habtoor brothers commissioned Dragone (the director with Cirque Du Soleil) to put together, a show that depicts the birth and rise of Dubai in a purpose built 10 storey theatre. Another astounding, breathtaking first for Dubai.
When we went to see Quidam in Dubai many years ago my husband was asking me why we didn't book seats closer to the stage as there was a whole section empty, about 50 seats. I kept telling him that it was sold out and ours were the best I could find. A few minutes before the show started in comes Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and his entourage. The national anthem was played and we stood for this phenomenal ruler of Dubai and I shed tears of pride and joy for the Emiraties.
