Hijab: Is it for the Modern Muslim Woman?

LWDLIK - I really liked their answers.

It's not for me and I would never ask why a woman wears a hijab. To me it's obviously a personal choice and condescending to ask.

So true.. Nobody in their right mind would ever try to convince a woman to stop wearing a hijab because its "outdated". They should do whatever they wanna do and whatever makes them happy! That's their life, their choices. Some Muslims don't wanna wear a hijab, that's fine, but nobody should force their own beliefs on other people.

I agree with you! I don't wear hijab either, in fact I'm not even Muslim and to ask another woman why she does it, is indeed very condescending. With that being said, I feel you're giving it a fashion approach and I don't believe that's the reason they do it. I have a feeling it has something to do with a lifestyle and their believes. I've noticed for instance that most of the ladies that do wear hijab tend to have a different way to interact with men, for instance, most of them don't shake hands and avoid mixed environments. I don't think it's good or bad, it just is.

    1. Hi Anon, I didn't really intend for it to be a question about whether it's fashionable but more an insight into how hijabed ladies deal with this question.
My sisters-in-law are all hijabed and are also very conservative in male company. I respect their pious conservative ways; this is their right and choice. Sometimes they will discuss Islam and religions with me but I am reserved in my opinions and always respectful. So far it works beautifully.
