I Really Don't Get Why Someone Would Say This? Another Rant...

Thought I'd put this question out there and see what sort of response it gets...
What would you say to a woman who told you this. A friend of mine overheard a conversation about foreigners (British beauty salon staff) having to go for health checks every year. So the British hairdresser was moaning about it to a Kuwaiti female client who responded with a curt and  incredibly naive, " Well, you Westerners go out partying all the time here so you need to have health checks to stop Kuwaitis getting infected with anything!"
The very sweet hairdresser didn't have an answer for her but I do...
Someone needs to get real, baby! Please see how many precious local male angels fill the Bangkok flight daily. And no one's checking these guys who come home to their sweet unsuspecting wives. Ignorance is deadly! And you are downright RUDE!

When they invite guys in the "back door" so they can stay "pure" till marriage then they need to get checked. Also, if your man is vacationing anywhere without you there is a good chance he is being serviced by someone for money who has served more customers than Pinkberry in the Avenues Mall. Check their passport before you marry for a good idea of their hooker habits to come. Make sure he gets a complete checkup for STD's.

    1. I think I'll copy and paste this into a Hallmark card and give it to the hairdresser to give to her witch client.

I knew someone out there would have a gem response to this.

      Sound advice to all ladies!

Sadly seems the latest trend of finding out - when you do actually find a husband - that your husband is gay or just isn't into you; may be leading to bitterness and confusion...n'est pas?

It seems it is our duty as good citizens to spread some enlightenment.

Hi LWDLIK. Unfortunately, this kind of crap (pun intended ;)) is all too common. This was silly on 2 counts. Firstly the implication that westerners alone party (this has been mauled by the first commenter and you) hence have diseases & secondly that the poor locals just "catch it". There wouldn't be anything to catch if you weren't around so if anything they more likely deserved it doesn't seem to sink it. I had an Arab (hijabed) colleague once talk me down for wearing ankle length cargo white pants which "showed the shape of my legs" if I walked in a sun lit area. Mind you, I had leggings on under the pants. The hilarious part is her daily wardrobe consisted of outfits SO TIGHT all over from head to toe that it left nothing to one's imagination yet I'm the one getting a lecture LOL. I'm not even going to get into her b**chy personality she was famous for. I just let it go because it wasn't worth it - you can't educate a shut mind. Like the first comment highlighted - you're not "pure" just because you don't take it up front (else it wouldn't be called a*** s**) but when that's the mentality, shows you the size of the mind.

    1. OMG I'm blushing even with the stars. Ok, so a loose translation of the beach word that so often gets taken out of context here and turned into another word meaning the oldest profession in the world. B**** in the West means a female dog or a nasty, mean worded woman. Anon, above, meant the latter - I think :O)

      I am such a prude.

What a naive lady indeed!! And so smug with it!! Alot of women here lead such sheltered lives. Most of the time they don't really know where their husbands go when they claim to be at the diwaniya or the farm. They don't know that many guys either have their own bachelor pad or rent with their friends a party flat to have fun and escape the boredom of their marriages. I am often amazed at the number of straight acting married Kuwaiti guys who see nothing wrong in actively seeking out other guys for some "fun". They cruise around Belajat Street looking for like-minded guys to hook up with and then return back home to the comforts of their marital home after a night of wanton passion with Mr Right(now). These unsuspecting wives have no idea about the huge health risk that lurks beneath the sheets of their king-sized beds.

  4. The comment by the lady at the parlour was really not called for! There's an apartment in Salmiya near one of my friend's places that is known to service the local angels as you put it. But to be honest, I guess this goes for anyone, regardless of whether you're British, a local or any other nationality to be honest!

    1. Agreed.. most men, from any country at anytime are prone. No angels, no where 'cept heaven.

And when you know that it's a possibilty you can watch out for it and deal with it, if and when it should arise (refering to the philandering people, the philandering :O)

One thing's for sure--- if one day, she (the client) gets an STD from her husband, she's going to remember that nice hairdresser from the salon.. What a b*tch.

What the lady said was surely down right rude and she was generalizing all westerners of being promiscuous but that doesn't justify bashing Kuwaiti women as well. Just as you're offended by ignorant stereotypes, comments about kuwaiti marriages are not all true. There are many of them who are happily married and not all men are sneaking behind their wives' back because they're not sexually satisfied. Some people like to make Arab men look desperate and always looking for sex but some people like to use that as a defense mechanism. In the end, it's men and women and has nothing to do with their nationality.

    1. True! And I honestly love, adore and have huge respect for the Kuwaiti women in my life. I also know of many happily married Kuwaiti couples with great marriages.

It's the 'holier than thou' attitude from anyone (whether Kuwaiti or not) that I find most offensive.

The ones getting bashed are those with the double morals.

  9. I think that some people are just mean spirited. There certainly is enough sterotyping of Western women, but OMG - to say something like THAT while a Western woman is doing your hair???!! Is she INSANE? I would have dyed her hair blue and blamed it on HER social disease.

Hairgirl must have had the patience of a saint if she finished her hair at all.

The die-hard biddies pointing fingers and throwing rocks at others while living in glass houses never cease to amaze me.
